Russia, and the russian people, has for ages been mysterius and a country of intrigue to people of the west. For centuries it has been an enigma, friend or enemy, dependent if political winds was blowing in changing directions.
The russian people are interested in many of the same things as any other people. They wish a better life for themselves, self determination, pride in self and the russian country. For many years the western people have heard the voices from the TV correspondences, giving their views of the world politics from the capital of Russia - Moscow.
Travel into an undiscovered countryFor most western people Russia is associated with its great European cities, Moscow, St.Petersburg and Murmansk. This is the most essential of the Imperial Russia and these ancient cities is often focus for travel and tourism.
However there is much more to Russia. The country spans over eleven time zones and two continents. Russia ends less than 50 miles from the North end of America.
Within this vast expanse lie the largest freshwater lake in the world, rivers and forests teeming with fish and wildlife, awe inspiring volcanos, and towering mountains. Russia is the largest country on earth, with enormous tracts of land that have been opened to travellers only in the last few years.
What is Russia?Russia is the country of beautiful contrasts and interesting people. Russia is reaching 9000 km from east to west and 5000 km from north to south. Russia is housing people of many different nationalities. Because of this Russia is often called the bridge between europe and asia, both geographical and social.
For centuries Russia has been a victim of changes. Even since the Slavs, Finn tribes and Tatars made their way through Russia, this mix of many different nations and their culture defined Russia and the unique russian character and culture.
